Hello and thank you for considering a visit to Allentown Bible Church! Our church exists to follow Christ together in grace and truth. We would love for you to join us and see for yourself exactly what it means to Follow Christ Together.
What to Expect
When you walk through the doors of Allentown Bible Church, expect to be greeted warmly. Many of our regular worshiping family are interested in knowing you, no matter your background, affiliation, or exterior. Jesus says, “Come Just As You Are” and that is truly what we believe. Our 9:30-10:00 AM time is designated for fellowship and conversation, usually around coffee and a sweet treat or two. Our worship gathering then starts at 10:00 and normally lasts around an hour and twenty minutes.
Planning a Visit
Our website is packed full of ministry information, upcoming events, and more on exactly who we are and Who we follow. We would love to know you are coming, simply because it might be nice to have someone know your name, to ask questions, or to request assistance with any special needs. Please feel free to contact us.
The following are some questions we have been asked in the past that might help you in your planning:
Where are you currently meeting?
ABC is meeting at the East-Side Youth Center Social Hall, 1140 East Clair Street, Allentown, PA 18109. The parking lot and entrance is located across Maxwell Street from the Planet Fitness shopping center just south of the intersection with Hanover Avenue. We have a fellowship time at 9:30am followed by a worship service at 10:00am.
Is there something for my kids?
We have a children’s ministry during the preaching time of the service. The kids will stay with us until after the last song. Then, we’ll bring them up to the front to pray for them and dismiss them to their class, where they are taught by qualified adults under close supervision.
What makes you different than other churches?
We do not believe that we are the only church out there doing a good job with the Gospel, and we applaud churches that are concentrated on living out the Great Commission and elevating God’s Word above man’s opinion. A focus of our church that may be different than other churches is our focus on relationships. We believe that God’s design for the church is a relational community that grows together in the truth of His Word.
What is your leadership style?
We believe that Scripture sets forth a pattern of leadership where multiple men are involved in the spiritual decisions of the church, while still having a “first among equals” within that group. This “first among equals,” who for us is the lead pastor, meets with these men to discuss and decide on the spiritual direction of the church. We do not believe in domineering leadership, nor do we believe in lethargic leadership.
What version of the Bible do you utilize?
For continuities’ sake, we have decided to use the ESV (English Standard Version) of the Bible in our preaching and teaching times. But feel free to bring along the version of your preference as you follow along.
