Sunday Worship: 10:00am

When I read about stories such as Eddie Long’s, I am confronted with thoughts that some churches tend to exalt a man as their leader instead of God as their leader. If so much focus is given to a man and his “prowess,” is it any wonder when those men start believing the lies that they are great because of who they are, not because of the God that they serve and who chooses to use them? Then these men build themselves little empires of which they are the sovereign leader and can do as they please, whether it entails sinful behavior or not. Do we not set these men up for failure when we empower them by heaping glory on their heads, instead of giving glory to God?

We need more men like John the Baptist, who make it their life’s aim to point to Christ, and say, “he must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30).
